Shades

Custom shades in Boise and Meridian.

Zebra, roller, cellular and blackout shades fitted to the room and the light. Free in-home estimate anywhere in the Treasure Valley.

Custom Shades

Light control that matches how you actually live.

From soft light-filtering fabrics to full blackout, we fit interior shades to the room — nurseries, media rooms, home offices, and everywhere in between — with an eye toward energy efficiency in our hot summers and cold winters. Zebra shades give you privacy and daylight in the same window, cellular shades add real insulation, and blackout fabrics do what they promise in a bedroom. Control options range from a standard manual chain or wand to fully cordless lift systems and motorized shades you can run from a remote or smart-home app — and every shade can be mounted inside the frame for a clean built-in look or outside the frame for fuller coverage.

Options

The right fabric for the room, not just the window.

Every shade is built to the opening — here is what goes into that choice.

Light-Filtering

Soft, diffused daylight without losing privacy. A strong everyday choice for living rooms, kitchens, and home offices.

Zebra (Dual-Layer)

Alternating sheer and solid bands you slide to dial in privacy and light in the same window, from wide open to fully closed.

Cellular & Blackout

Honeycomb cellular fabric adds real insulation against Idaho's summers and winters; blackout fabric fully blocks light for bedrooms and media rooms.

Roman Shades

Soft fabric folds that stack neatly at the top when raised — a tailored, upholstered look that reads more formal than a roller or cellular shade. A strong fit for dining rooms and primary bedrooms where you want texture, not just function.

How It Works

From estimate to a shade that fits right.

1. In-home estimate

We bring fabric and color samples to your home and talk through light control, mount style, and control options in the actual light of the room.

2. Measured individually

Every window gets measured on-site — no stock sizing. Inside-mount and outside-mount are both fit to the exact opening.

3. Installed by us

Installed by our own dedicated installer, not a subcontracted crew — the same people who measured it are accountable for how it fits.

Which One Is Right For You

Shades vs. blinds vs. shutters.

Shades give you soft, layered light control and a wide range of fabrics, colors, and openness levels — a great fit when you want the room to feel warm rather than utilitarian. If durability and budget matter more than fabric texture, our blinds may be the better fit. For a permanent, built-in feature that adds resale value, take a look at our plantation shutters. We are happy to bring samples of all three so you can compare them side by side in your own home.

What To Expect

Lead times, motorization, and lift styles.

Every shade is made to order for your exact window — here is what shapes the timeline and the choice of lift.

Typical Lead Time

Shades are manufactured after we measure, so expect a production window before install day. Simpler light-filtering and roller fabrics generally move faster than motorized or specialty fabrics like zebra and roman. We'll confirm a firm date at your in-home estimate.

Motorized Shades

Battery or wired motorization is available across our shade lines — useful for tall or hard-to-reach windows, stairwells, and anywhere you want a remote or smart-home control instead of a cord. It costs more than a standard cordless lift but removes cords entirely, which matters most with kids or pets in the house.

Top-Down/Bottom-Up

Lower the top of the shade for privacy while still letting light in from below, or raise the bottom for a view without losing privacy up top. Popular on cellular and light-filtering shades in bathrooms, bedrooms, and any window that faces a street or neighbor.

Common Questions

Shades questions we hear most.

How much do custom shades cost?

Cost depends on fabric, size, and lift style — a light-filtering roller shade costs less than a motorized zebra or cellular shade. We give you an exact, itemized quote at your free in-home estimate, with samples in hand so you can see the fabric in your own light.

What's the difference between zebra shades and roman shades?

Zebra shades use alternating sheer and solid bands you slide open and closed to dial in light and privacy at any level. Roman shades are a single soft fabric panel that stacks in folds when raised — more of a tailored, upholstered look than a functional light-control tool.

Can shades block out light completely for a bedroom?

Yes — blackout-lined cellular and roller shades, especially with an outside mount or side channels to seal the light gaps, get a bedroom close to fully dark. We'll point you to the right fabric and mount once we see the window.
